what can be better than traveling with good people to good places?!
”Travel leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind” – no, unfortunately, those are not my words, it was Anthony Bourdain, but I do agree.
I just came back to Poland from the trip to central Europe. Tired, but satisfied. It was an amazing – 4 countries in 10 days. The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Austria – countries next to each other but with a totally different experience in each. But here I am gonna speak about the more important thing.
I am thinking now and it was so easy to cross the borders – no passport control; none of the documents are necessary; you don’t even understand crossing border without SMS which informs you that your network has been changed. Anyway, no control at all.
I am from Georgia. If you don’t know, that’s a post-soviet country in the middle of Europe and Asia.
Oh, no we are not in the EU.
Almost everyone likes traveling, but opportunities are not equal to those people, right?
For example, in the picture, you see three guys smiling. from the left: Walid from Morocco – one article is not enough to talk about how complicated is traveling for him. The guy in the middle is Jordi from Catalonia – to travel he just needs ID. And below you can read about me…
Once for Georgian citizens, it was complicated to have a VISA and travel, but two years ago everything changed.
Finally, the EU didn’t let us in but ”The European Commission proposed to allow visa-free travel to the Schengen area for Georgian citizens holding a biometric passport.”
Things become easier. But still, you need travel insurance [you might think now: ”Come on, people have insurance anyway”. Yes, that’s true, but we don’t]; cash, not much but according to the number of days you are gonna travel; sometimes return ticket is needed; accommodation; an invitation makes things better; questions and more questions on passport control.
Do you remember I said things became easier? Now it’s up to you, to open imagination and try to imagine what was before.
So, in this situation you start looking for possibilities to travel, possibilities to make it really easier. One can be having a lot of money. I mean a lot. You know what I mean?! But it’s not easy, right?
Another one is EVS and I’m part of it. Having the EU country citizenship from 2 to 12 months gives you a good opportunity to travel without any extra documents and stuff.
And this is just the one among other opportunities EVS gives to young people. Such as improving yourself or gathering a lot of important experience.
Well, you don’t have to wait for something magic, just use the one, the real chance you have. I hope you know what I mean.
